Always on the lookout for new ideas, I thought to research quilts made by the Amish and found this site, Amish Country Quilts. While most of the quilts in their “Quilt Tour” photo slideshow are considered very traditional, there were several that really stood out to me in terms of colorway, pattern design, and the exquisite hand quilting.

While the Amish women may piece their quilts either by hand or with a treadle sewing machine, all these quilts are hand-quilted with itty bitty and very precise stitches.  Stunning!

These are some of my favorites out of the first 150 pics.

The pictures in the slideshow don’t have URL’s, but I’ve listed their number and name underneath each picture I’ve posted here. Each quilt has 8 other photos that show more detail, so to see more pics go to the website, scroll down a bit, and click on “Take the Quilt Tour!” Then you can either click through all 993 quilts or type in the number of the one you specifically want to look at.

Neat quilt finds–and the one you posted to by blog comments too. You’ll be happy to note that I’ve already cut out over one hundred blocks for my version! That should keep me busy for quite a while.
